ISC West 2015 – United States Largest Security Industry Gathering

ISC West 2015 Security IndustryIn case you were not aware, ISC West, the largest security industry gathering in the United States, took place in Las Vegas this month. What? You’ve never heard of it? Don’t let that bother you. Unless you consider yourself to be a security industry expert you probably didn’t miss anything. Keystone Fire and Security was there and came back with what you need to know.

ISC West, by the numbers, hosts over 1,000 international and domestic security product manufacturers, 26,000 security professionals and 10,000+ featured products. This year’s convention offered 75 educational sessions that were geared toward a wide range of security professionals.

Charlie Thiel, Keystone Fire and Security’s General Manager, Security Group says, “ISC West provides us with the opportunity to see new products that help us solve our client’s needs. Every year we come back to Keystone Fire and Security armed with industry partnerships that allow us to serve our clients.”

Thiel was part of a three member panel discussion titled “Demystifying Video Analytics.” If you missed it, I’m sure that you’re still mystified by video analytics. More on that in another post next week.

Some of the notables with which Keystone Fire and Security came away from ISC West are highlighted below.

ISC West 2015 Security IndustryGenetec, one of Keystone Fire and Security’s security product partners, was showcasing their latest version of Security Center. Version 5.3. Security Center 5.3 now includes Genetec’s intercom solution called Sipelia. With Sipelia embedded in Security Center when a Video Door Station is activated (by swiping a card, or pressing a button) a window automatically pops up allowing for video, voice and door controls to be placed in front of the security operator. Security Center also now processes video at the system GPU (graphics process unit) instead of the CPU (central processing unit). This allows for video to be processed faster and for other features like being able to record a video pane and drag video from another pane to create a sequence of events from multiple cameras. Should the need arise to export video, for instance to pass along to the police, the included video player is now smaller allowing more room on a disk or thumb drive for video.

Axis A8007-VEAnother notable product introduced at ISC West is the AXIS A8007-VE Network Video Door Station. The A8007-VE is an IP-based door station that allows for two-way voice communication, high definition video and remote entry control. All in a smaller, easier to install unit. The A8007-VE works with Genetec’s Security Center.

Two cloud based security systems were demonstrated. One from Synergis and the other from Honeywell. Both are designed so that a server is not required for thus saving money on equipment. Because they are cloud based the end user has access to their security features anywhere they can log onto the Internet. Synergis Cloud Link allows for access control for managing doors. Honeywell MaxPro Cloud allows for video surveillance on the go (which has been available with server based systems) but it also allows video to be stored on the cloud. Keystone Fire and Security was granted a sneak peek at MaxPro Cloud which is currently in beta. We expect to begin implementing the system in May and be ready for the go live date at the beginning of July.

Veracity ColdStoreVeracity has a new compact storage system for mega-pixel IP cameras. ColdStore is designed from the ground up specifically for surveillance and uses a compact sequential storage system. It allows for 16TB capacity using only 16watts (massive power saving versus RAID). It also generates very high disk reliability, even using the lowest cost disk drives available. It allows for simple disk hot-swap for evidence seizure using a Sequential Filing System (SFS™) basically turning hard disks into video tapes.

Bosch 7000MPBosch was demonstrating their new 7000MP and 12000MP cameras. These are a discreet, low-profile camera for indoor use. They feature full panoramic surveillance with complete area coverage, fine details and high speeds. They offer full situational awareness and simultaneous electronic pan-tilt-zoom (E-PTZ) in high resolution.

Look for Keystone Fire and Security to begin rolling these and other innovations in the near future. We do what we can to stay on top of the security industry so that you can relax secure in the knowledge that our experts are up to date with the latest and greatest in security. You don’t have to go to Las Vegas to learn about the highest quality security technology, we’ll take care of that for you too! As Thiel notes, “Keystone Fire and Security can advocate at the highest level of each company on behalf of our clients. This is just one of the many benefits that come from working with us for your security solutions.”
